A message was left claiming allegations were being filed against me, with instructions to call back at +1 888-808-1784, which supposedly connects to Mathews and associates
Urgent legal threat call? How to spot the scam
Summary — +18888081784
Expert Opinion
Crazy how a single spoofed line can masquerade as a legal firm, yet give nothing beyond a vague threat. Callers using +1‑888‑808‑1784 repeatedly claim they’re processing documents, filing allegations, or serving papers, but never name a legitimate organization. The pattern—urgent call‑back request, mention of Social Security numbers, and a pressure deadline—is classic for process server scams. If you receive a message like this, hang up, do not return the call, and verify any supposed claim through official channels. Report the number to your carrier and to the FTC to help curb these spoofed number scams.
