Expert Opinion
Warning: these calls masquerading as an attorney general are classic extortion scams. Scammers often spoof 911 or law‑enforcement IDs, use aggressive language, and demand immediate payment via prepaid cards, MoneyPak, or wire services. Never send money to anyone you haven’t verified in person, and do not share personal or banking details over the phone. Hang up, block the number, and report the incident to the FTC, your state attorney general, and local law‑enforcement. Keep a log of the call timestamps and recordings; they help investigators track patterns. Using a call‑blocking app can further reduce exposure to similar fraud attempts.

Today, I received a call from this individual attempting to extort money, claiming a warrant would be issued for my arrest if I failed to pay immediately, and they even used a return number that appeared to be from the FL Sheriff's department, which was later confirmed as fraudulent by the actual sheriff's department.
