Expert Opinion
Never give out personal information to an unexpected call claiming to be the California Franchise Tax Board. Verify the caller by hanging up and dialing the official FTB number listed on the agency’s website. Treat voicemails that request refunds, payments, or your Social Security details with suspicion, especially if they pressure you to act quickly. Do not click links or fax documents sent from unknown numbers. Keep a record of the call details and report suspicious activity to the state consumer protection agency. Staying cautious and using official channels will keep your tax data safe.
