A person claimed to be from Rand Mutual Assurance (RMA), trying to arrange a meeting together with RMI. When I asked for email contact, the address he gave for my company didn’t match. I ended the call, then confirmed with both Rand Mutual Assurance and RMI that no such employee or meeting exists, and noted that RMA normally emails first before calling from a landline.

Expert Opinion
Caution is essential with unsolicited calls claiming official ties—verify independently before engaging. This incident points to a fraudulent attempt impersonating Rand Mutual Assurance and RMI, using a mismatched email and unverified details to push a fake meeting. Such tactics are common in scam operations aiming to extract info or build trust for larger cons. Always cross-check with official sources via their known channels, like websites or landlines, and report suspicious numbers to authorities. Hang up immediately on red flags like pressure or inconsistencies; enabling two-factor authentication on accounts adds protection against follow-up phishing.
