Yesterday at 3.14pm, I received a call from a male voice rambling nonsense, leading me to hang up and block the number right away.
A female caller with a foreign accent, claiming to represent O2, warned that my phone would stop functioning due to an inability to receive high frequency signals. She assured me a new sim would be provided at no cost. Realising this was rubbish, I pointed out that I’m not an O2 customer, to which she replied, 'Oh, wrong number' and hung up. Clearly a scam, possibly phishing?

They asserted they were from O2 and wanted to apply a discount to my bill, then 'transferred' me to 'billing' before I hung up. Wouldn’t O2 communicate such discounts via email instead of requesting my bank details for manual processing?
A scam caller who claimed to be from O2 was told I reported her to the police before she hung up; there ought to be a website for reporting such numbers to the authorities.
