Dodgy Calls on Smart Meter Upgrades?
Summary — +441157629972
Expert Opinion
Multiple reports highlight persistent calls about 'end of life' meters needing upgrades, often impersonating E.ON Next. Genuine energy firms like E.ON confirm no such outreach from this number, pointing to a scam pattern. VoIP tech links it to fraud networks, with robotic voicemails and no legitimate follow-up. Phones frequently flag it as spam, and callers dodge verification. Advice: Never share details; hang up immediately and block. Verify directly with your supplier via official channels. Register with the Telephone Preference Service if not already, and report to Action Fraud for tracking. Stay vigilant—scammers prey on timely issues like meter changes.

Multiple attempts were made to push smart meters, which I consider hazardous.
Received a call from this number moments ago, but my phone marked it as possible spam, so I mentioned that and disconnected.
From 01157629972. Unknown numbers get no response from me. Now blocked.
From 01157629972. I ignore rings from unrecognised contacts on my device. If it's crucial, they'll drop a voicemail, email, or even a text since they've got my details. Based on fellow reports, this seems like a dodgy caller.
Frequent irritating rings these days, despite being registered with the telephone preference service.
Fraud

Installers for smart meters, okay if you requested contact or were sent by your supplier.
Phoned just now (around 1255) regarding a "meter upgrade". I turned it down; the voicemail seemed robotic.
Fraud as indicated, unverifiable due to VoIP tech.
Feels off, like they know when I'm using my phone - no way that's random. Skip answering, just block. Highly dubious.
As no message was left by the caller, and the number was unknown, it has been blocked, presumed to be a scam attempt.
Fraudulent activity detected
Following a call from this number, a female representative claimed to be from eon NeXT, stating that a new meter was required due to the existing ones reaching the end of their lifespan, much like the switch from analogue to digital television signals; however, I remained sceptical and informed her I would look into the matter further, advising others to exercise caution.
Pretending to represent EON, they falsely claimed my meters were obsolete. EON themselves confirmed this was untrue
An automated voice prompted me to leave my details. I refused to provide any information but struggled to disconnect the call. The message mentioned energy suppliers, but since they already have my mobile number, I believe this was a scam originating from a VoIP service used by fraudsters
