Telemarketing from Yell: what to watch out for?
Summary — +441189129771
Expert Opinion
Block or screen numbers that repeatedly push cold calls about business listings. The majority of feedback points to a call centre claiming to represent Yell, the UK directory, and attempting to upgrade a free listing to a paid advert. Callers often use a strong accent and leave vague messages, which can feel harassing. Before engaging, ask for a verifiable employee name and a callback number from the official Yell website. Never share banking details or passwords over the phone. If the pitch feels pressurised, hang up and contact Yell directly through their online portal. Regularly updating your opt‑out preferences can also reduce future nuisance calls.

It appears that this call centre, based in Manila, is working on behalf of Yell, with staff likely being underpaid and overworked, sometimes alternating with a Scottish call centre, where employment opportunities may be scarce.
The term 'Scotch' refers to a type of whisky.

I've experianced several calls from this number, and this morning, I allowed it to go to voicemail, only to find they didn't leave a message. However, I was unable to end the call, so I blocked the number. Unfortunatly, this seemed to cause issues with my line, and I had to disconnect and restart to resolve the problem. Be cautious of this number, as I beleive they may not be legitamate.
Yell contacted me to verify our listing, and although the representative had a strong accent that made communication challenging, she provided last year's listing information without requesting any new details.
Apparently, this is a YELL[###] number, which means it's likely a cold call.
Die Nummer macht Spam- und Scam-Anrufe, ohne dass ich meine Zustimmung gegeben habe, was sehr unangenehm ist und mich belästigt.
Someone from this number contacted my workplace yesterday, claiming to be from Yell to update our free listing. Although the heavy foreign accent made me cautious, I didn’t want to jump to conclusions. I stayed on the line, only sharing publicly available information like our company name, address, and phone number. When she asked for names, it made me uncomfortable, so I put her on hold to ask my manager if this was normal. She hung up after just 10 seconds. While it didn’t feel outright scammy, her lack of professionalism was frustrating.
There's never anyone on the other end of the line, it's probably a call centre that's been blocked now.
This caller is suspected of being a scammer.
Frequent calls but no clear speech, sounds like a call centre.
After missing a call from this seemingly local number, an attempt to return the call was met with a 'number not recognised' response, adding to the mystery surrounding this caller.
It's Yell, and it's genuine. An Asian lady calls yearly to update my advertising details. It's a legitimate service.
The usual annoying call, no one on the line, blocked the number, very annoying early call with silence, absolutly rediculous
Within a short space of time, I received calls from 01246 29090 and 01189129771, a trend that seems to be increasing with the start of the year

I have blocked this number
Initially there was silence, then a voice with a foreign accent started selling something or attempting to disrupt my day. I hope everyone reports and blocks these nuisances and stays vigilant.
