Opos Limited debt collection calls – how to protect yourself!

It seems to be a scam; they referenced a debt from 19 years ago, which is clearly false.

They called and also messaged, urging me to contact them about important information on my account that I don’t have. They claimed that if I provided my details I could see what they’d written about me. It looks convincing, but I owe nothing.

I also received a letter on 8 April 2025; after checking this site, I confirmed it was a scam.

After speaking with an Asian woman about an alleged £209.50 debt from 2001, she offered to settle for £52.38. I told her I’d involve a solicitor, and they subsequently wrote off the debt. This stemmed from a Capquest OPOS letter I received this morning—scammers are now going postal; stay vigilant.

A letter arrived for my wife purporting to be from Arrow Global, stating they had purchased a debt in her name. Enclosed was a second letter pretending to be from Capquest/OPOS with payment instructions. The alleged debt was with a catalogue company; my wife has never had an account with them, so she is ignoring the request. The letters are dated 18 July 2025, and the contact number shows a SCAM warning when dialled, so we stopped the call. Checking your website confirmed our suspicion that this is a scam. The supposed debt was with Littlewoods and dated 2023.

I received a letter stating I owed money on a TSB loan taken out 21 years ago. After dialing the number on my mobile, the call ended with my screen flashing “Debt Collector, Suspected scam”. I checked comments here, blocked the number and reported it. Thanks for the helpful information.

The Arrow/Opos notice referred to a mail‑order account with Shop Direct (Carval), including a reference and PIN, claiming I owed a statutory‑barred sum. Unfamiliar with any such purchase, I contacted the National Debt line, who advised me to request a cease‑contact letter. Their reply confirmed they would stop contacting me, revealing the operation as a scam; I now flood their email address.

I received a letter claiming I owed money to Orange and found it amusing. When I dialled the number, the screen warned of a suspected scam, prompting me to check this site—thankfully I did.

Avoid replying to any correspondence or calls from them! It’s a scam. They mailed me claiming I had an Orange contract, which I never did. Do not remit any money or share passport details as they requested during a phone call this morning. This is a 100 % scam—if another letter arrives, I’ll involve the police.

A call from 01389493417 turned out to be a debt scam. It was the strangest automated message I’ve ever heard, and the callback number wasn’t clearly repeated.

Someone called from 01389493417 on the evening of 5 May 2025; I couldn’t make out the fraud‑related discussion and hung up, concluding it was a scam.

I received a very dodgy letter today claiming I owe over £200 to JD Williams with an account number I don’t recognise. The alleged debt dates from 2023, but they say paying it now would reduce it to £44—a strange offer. I’ve never heard a company operate like that, so be very careful; scammers are getting more sophisticated each day.

Music played for approximately two minutes before an animated voice spoke, but the language used was incomprehensible to me; thankfully, this platform has enlightened me that it's a scam, and as we know, scams pose significant threats

They acquire very old CCJs and debts that have expired from companies that didn't collect the full amount. Then they attempt to scam for the remainder while pretending to be the original company. BLOCK, BLOCK, BLOCK!
