They say they are the National Lottery, how do they get away with these scams?

Be aware, this is a total scam, dont give them any information

A scam attempt was made, where the caller claimed I would receive free lottery tickets, but requested my date of birth and implied that there would be a cost, at which point I ended the call, blocked the number, and avoided potential financial loss.

Today, I recived a call from someone claiming to be from the national lottery, but I told them I dont participate and ended the call.

There is absolutly no doubt this is a scam, i made a report to the Information Commissioner's Office and would recomend all to do the same, it takes 3 minites to do a report

Got a call from this number saying I won the lottery! They even knew my name! Told them I didn’t buy any tickets and hung up. Definitely sounds like a scam.

I recieved a call claiming to be from the National Lottery, they said I'd been awarded 3 free lines for next Wednesdays draw, I hesitated and she said I didnt need to take them, I declined as I was suspicious about what information she would request.

The caller said they were from the national lottery and asked if I’d be home. I declined and hung up, suspecting it was a scam. I’ve received two more scam calls since Saturday. It’s the usual tactic targeting older people, assuming we’re naive.

This number claimed I won the lottery. Told them I don’t play, but they kept insisting. Hung up and blocked the number.

A person claiming to be Mark from Your Lotto Service UK contacted me, possessing my previous address and postcode, and offered to send lottery lines, which may be a tactic to verify and sell personal data

Over the past two days, I’ve been called three times from this number. When I finally answered, they informed me I had won 10 lines in the lottery on Wednesday 23rd October and wanted to send them via post. They then attempted to verify my address and date of birth. When I pointed out that the National Lottery app already had that information, they hung up. It does not seem like a legitimate call, and I’m too sceptical to think you get something for free. Exercise caution!!

Received a very convincing call today, but it was clearly a scam.

This number claimed to be from the National Lottery, stating I had 12 free lucky dips. They had my name wrong, so I suspected a scam and hung up.

Offered 10 free National Lottery lines, requested DOB which I denied. The call ended.
