It appears that the caller, likely with an Indian accent, is engaging in a phishing scam targeting individuals in the UK, specifically those with BT (British Telecom) services. The caller claims to be from BT support, but their intentions are malicious, as they try to obtain personal information or create a sense of urgency by stating that the recipient's internet address is ending. The fact that they possess the recipient's home address and claim to have sent emails and letters adds to the convincing nature of the scam. However, the recipients are wise to the scam, and some have even devised creative ways to deal with the unwanted calls, such as leaving the phone receiver beside the phone for an extended period. The callers become abusive when their true intentions are discovered.
Similar to previous experiences, they mentioned that my internet address was expiring. The issue was that they knew my home address and claimed to have sent an email and letter, which raised my suspicions about a scam, so I told them to leave me alone.
Purportedly from BT support, but clearly a scam, often with an Indian accent, and since I've switched providers, they become aggressive when I clarify they're not actually from BT; my plan is to leave the phone off the hook for 10 minutes to see how they react
