Expert Opinion
Just now, a wave of unsolicited calls claiming to be Google partners has been surfacing across various businesses. These callers typically pitch cheaper ad‑management services while demanding direct access to your advertising accounts. From a data‑protection viewpoint, never disclose personal data or account credentials over the phone unless you can independently verify the caller’s identity. Request the company’s official name, registration number and a callback to a verified landline. Use call blocking tools or register the number with the Telephone Preference Service. Report persistent abuse to the Information Commissioner’s Office and keep a log of dates, times and the script used. Maintaining clear boundaries protects both your data and reputation.

The caller claimed to be a Google partner, supposedly tasked with contacting companies directly about their ad campaigns, as Google was too busy with big contracts. However, when I asked to verify this with Google, the caller changed their story, saying they were actually from an ad research company that had stumbled upon our Google! ad.
The individual failed to properly introduce his company during a call related to a Google Ads campaign. Their approach involves calling after spotting a newly created ad on Google, offering assistance in launching the Google Ads campaign.
