O2‑related scam calls – what to do!

This is a SCAM. Report all such attempts to the police fraud database. Search for ‘action fraud’ and visit the ‘police.uk’ website. Navigate to the ‘report a phishing attempt’ section, read the details, and provide all relevant information. Registration isn’t required unless you’ve lost money. Reporting these incidents helps the police track these crimes. Many of these scams originate from Russia, but regardless of their source, reporting them is crucial.

Beware of this number! It’s a scam. These scammers use countless untraceable, computer-generated fake UK numbers, making blocking ineffective. Some systems have limits on blocked numbers, which stop working once exceeded. To combat fake mobile numbers, fake landlines, and spoofed UK business numbers, reach out to your MP. Ask what Parliament is doing to push the phone industry to adopt technology that stops these calls. The technology exists. Check the UK Parliament website to contact your MP. The response will be eye-opening. Scams are a massive, untaxed industry that needs to be stopped.

The caller claimed to be from o2 business, which was ironic since they reached my private, sim-only phone that is not with o2; unfortunately, their voice was barely intelligible.

Claiming to be partners with 02, they requested information about my data usage but were unable to provide any details when asked; their evasive behavior led me to believe it's a dodgy company.

A Pakistani male, posing as a mobile contract provider, attempted to scam me.

The caller inquired about my network provider, offering a discount if I was with 02.

I received a scam call pretending to originate from the UK.

A company, falsely claiming to be an O2 partner, contacted me to take over my O2 business communications, asking inappropriate questions that violate GDPR UK laws, and I recommend blocking this number.

O2's customer service was unaware of this number, prompting me to block it

I wonder if the Onetel scammer is a self employed individual?

This is a scam number! Blocking is pointless. Foreign scammers continue calling using numerous fake UK numbers. To stop criminals using fake numbers, contact your MP. The technology to prevent these calls exists. The UK parliament website provides MP contact details. You'll find their response interesting. Scams are a multi-billion-pound, tax-free industry that must be stopped.
