Expert Opinion
Like a wolf in sheep's clothing, this caller masquerades as a helpful energy advisor but preys on the unwary. Reports consistently describe unsolicited calls pushing dubious government schemes for energy savings, often involving AI bots or scripted pitches from names like Gabby. Callers probe for personal details such as home ownership, postcode, and surname, raising red flags for potential scams. Block the number immediately to avoid hassle, and never share sensitive info over unsolicited calls. If pressed, hang up and report to Action Fraud. For legitimate energy advice, contact your supplier directly or check Ofgem's site—keeps things straightforward and secure.

Daily calls from this lot have me at the end of my tether. Might just get a new phone number.
Rang at 9.45 this morning. Normally I send unknown callers to voicemail, but I was waiting for a call so I took it. Woman named Gabby (human-sounding but quick responses suggest AI) from the gov's energy efficiency program. She asked to verify I own the place and if I'd insulated before. I said no interest and rang off.

Phone app blocked today's 10:52 AM call as telemarketing spam. Reckon everyone should do the same and block it pronto.
Posed as 'your local energy adviser' and requested the homeowner.
JUNK! BARRED!
It's an artificial intelligence voice bot (using genuine audio clips) attempting to reply to what you ask.
A robotic female voice introduced herself as my local energy consultant—that prompted me to end the call.
Junk call, now blocked
A woman's voice (human, not automated) claimed to be from my area's energy provider. I told her to quit and mentioned I'd just locked in a two-year deal with British Gas. She replied, 'Alright, we'll drop it, cheers.'
Earlier call came from a York number that was a bit different. Both pushed energy-saving offers, so I ignored this one too.
Unsolicited sales pitch on home energy savings. They pretended to call from my local area (though I'm in Scotland). Ignored my refusals and pushed their offerings.
Said I owned the place and asked if I handled the electric there. Told 'em I don't own it, just duty security. Call cut off sharpish – scammer for sure, cheeky bugger.
Said they represented a government energy efficiency program after claiming our insulation was recently updated following home improvements; she posed some general questions which I responded to until they sought confirmation of my postcode's first part and last name, then I requested she verify it for me. She claimed it was on record, so I pressed her to state it. She started reciting a 'legal' spiel. The moment she asked me to pay close attention, I disconnected.
