They typically offer enticing discounts or claim overcharges, using a strong Indian accent and operating from a noisy call centre. The calls are often unsolicited and can be quite aggressive. They phoned my grandad offering a 50% discount on his contract, despite his recent switch to EE. We ended the call three times and blocked them, but they rang back, so I blocked and reported. Please watch over your elderly relatives if they contact you.
Fraud - Indian female from phone company
Claiming they could slash my mobile contract in half, but pity—I've been on pay-as-you-go for about 8 years now, and my block list outnumbers my contacts.
Claimed affiliation with Tesco Mobile, then BT and EE, warning sim deactivation in a week. I replied splendid, means no more dodgy calls like this. Who buys into these Indian scam operations anyway.
Automated scam: 'Your phone's about to go kaput – press one for English...' Yeah, right.
Another load of London rubbish - I block all 020 prefixes.
Posing as Tesco Mobile rep. Claimed O2 merger requires new SIM in 7 days. I heard them out, chuckled, then told her to get lost.
Female caller with Indian accent asserted she was from Tesco Mobile, worried about my SIM deactivating soon and detailing losses in a week due to merger with O2 and Virgin under Telefonica. I said I'm on EE and uninterested in the fraud. She pivoted, claiming EE was involved too and she had my number from an EE list – but I'm not with EE. I disconnected then.
Woman with an Indian accent purporting to call from Tesco Mobile, warning my SIM gets deactivated in a week. I requested she verify my name; she insisted on my email first, which I declined. Endless to-and-fro till she dropped the line. These folks make me sick
Line remains operational; got an incoming ring at 11:38am, immediately checked here to verify. Didn't pick up, adding this note.
Fraudsters after bank info. Bloody dangerous!
Faking an EE rep with 50% savings pitch—KEEP YOUR INFO PRIVATE!!! Pure scam.
Woman with an Indian accent, possibly Maddie, said she was from EE with a 50% deal. Asked for my email to verify identity. I said I don't trust unsolicited calls and would contact EE directly. She insisted on using her number - no chance
Woman with an accent claiming EE rep status, offering 50% bill cut if I confirm my email. Hung up sharpish. Same voice from another number yesterday spouting the same rubbish – good job I checked here.
I chose not to answer the call, as it appeared to be a potential scam.
Be cautious of potential scams from this number
This phone call was clearly an attempt to deceive, offering a 50% discount on a contract that seemed too good to be true.
Call offering a 50% discount on my next EE bill if I provided my email. Told them to send a text, but never received it.
Pretending to be from EE, offering bills at half price. Why would they do that when the bills aren't even high? I've blocked the whole 020 8129 range.
Someone claiming to represent EE with a noticeable Indian accent tried to convince me to pay my bill at half price immediately.
The call went to voicemail, but it was just background noise with a conversation saying 'same here, same here.' It seems like a call centre scam, and they tried calling again.
A woman with a thick Indian accent offered me a 50% discount on my monthly EE bill, but when I agreed, she claimed I needed to apply, which seemed unnessasary as an existing customer
Claimed to be EE but is clearly a scam. Blocked the number.
