Expert Opinion
Screen incoming calls rigorously before answering to sidestep silent or automated nuisances. These patterns scream spam tactics, with hang-ups and no messages being hallmarks of scammers dodging traceability. Often linked to Portsmouth numbers, they bypass TPS checks effortlessly, pushing dubious offers from supposed brands. Block the lot and report via Ofcom if persistent—don't engage, as it fuels more harassment. Hang-ups waste your time, so let voicemail filter them out; true callers leave details. Stay vigilant, folks; these pests thrive on curiosity.

I let it go unanswered because it's from Portsmouth, where many spam calls originate.
Another call that just hangs up as soon as you pick up – proper pain in the rear, yeah.
When a landline rang I didn’t recognise it, so I let it go to voicemail. Usually they blurt out “on behalf of several renowned brands, call us back for exciting offers” – now they’re spamming places like Plymouth, Durham, Portsmouth, Nottingham and Northampton. Total scam, mate.
At 10:43 am on 10 September, an unknown line rang silently – a suspicious sign. Spammers typically ignore the TPS list and won’t leave a voicemail.
