Someone pretended to represent my life insurance firm, but I knew it was a fraud since I’d already contacted them.
Cardiff Scam Alert: Verification Trap?
Summary — +442922229951
Expert Opinion
Approach calls from unfamiliar numbers with caution, especially those probing for personal details. These reports highlight a pattern of unsolicited contacts from a Cardiff-based line, often masquerading as verification or review services to extract information like names or confirmations. One instance involved impersonating a life insurance firm, which raises red flags for scam tactics. The vague voicemail prompts, such as pressing buttons, are classic ploys to engage or compromise your line. Block the number immediately and avoid callbacks. Report to Action Fraud if you've interacted; never share details. Staying vigilant prevents fallout from such phishing attempts.

Number 029 2222 9951 from Cardiff attempted a verification scam; I ignored the cold call and blocked it.
Obviously a scam; the caller didn't identify themselves, started by asking if it was ‘Helen’s’ number, then said records might be wrong and asked for ‘Mr Gilbert Addo’, followed by a request for my first name to update company records. The voice was a young male with a Multicultural London English accent.
After missing the call I returned it; the voicemail greeted me with 'Welcome to the review department' and instructed to press 1 to leave a review or 0 to remove the number. The lack of any identifiable organisation online makes it look suspicious.
