Bank Scam Alert: Fake Texts Exposed

The text originated from a number that is clearly a scam.

Beware of this number, as it has been linked to fraudulent activities.

They phoned, alleging a new iPhone had been linked to my nonexistent Nationwide account – clearly a scam.

A text claimed to be from Nationwide, saying a new iPhone 8 had been added to my mobile banking app and urging me to call their fraud line at 0330 133 1915 if I didn’t recognise it. I don’t hold an account with Nationwide, so I verified the number on their website and confirmed they have no record of me. I marked the message as spam and blocked the sender – it’s frustrating having to deal with such scams.

A notification started with NATIONWIDE, showing an OTP for a £695.55 transfer.

This is a fraudulent scheme; multiple numbers have claimed my nonexistent Nationwide account has an iPhone linked to it. I don’t even hold an account with Nationwide, so it’s clearly a scam – avoid responding.

A suspicious text message was sent from 07487 627779, containing a code and an 0330 number to contact, allegedly for an Airbnb payment.

Got a message stating HSBC sent a code 904125 for a £1,095.20 Airbnb purchase, and to call 0330 133 1915 if it wasn’t me (ref N7290). I don’t bank with HSBC, so it’s a scam.
