Vanquis code scam: what to watch out for!

I couldn’t understand why the number showed up while I was using the Vanquis app on my phone to make a payment – I never got a call or a text with a link. It seems the number is somehow linked to the app, so I’ve frozen my card and am closing the account.

Seems like a scam.

Vanquis Bank confirmed the number is genuine and mentioned it belongs to their new system.

Looks like they're posing as Vanquis Bank, demanding every one of my credit card details — what a load of bollocks, mate!

After my new card arrived and I registered it, I received a text from Vanquis stating a new device had linked to my card. I wanted to call them, but the message contained a spelling error, so I temporarily froze the new card.

It’s a scam, just like all the other posts — hang up and give your bank a bell, mate.

Received spam texts claiming to be a Vanquis bank code for the app; duplicate messages try to lure me into calling back with so‑called ‘friendly warnings’.

I received a call claiming two unauthorised withdrawals on my Vanquis card, then supplied a code and demanded my full card number and three‑digit security code. I told the caller to leave; he was extremely pushy.

Beware – they pretended to be from Vanquis credit card/Barclays, demanded my credit limit, texted me and then requested the code from that message. Do not reply!

A bloke who sounded British rang from this number, claiming to represent Vanquis bank. He had my address and birth date. I figured out it was a con too late; Vanquis is looking into it now.

They say they're from Vanquis and forwarded a six‑digit code.

Someone pilfered my husband’s details and used that number on WhatsApp to request money.

Looks like a scam pretending to be Vanquis, pinging you for a six‑digit code to access your account — don’t fall for it, mate.

They say they dispatched verification codes, but none ever reached my phone.

Working as a scam‑buster, I instantly recognised this as fraudulent; I've never heard of Vanquis and they sent two codes, which is never legitimate.

A message with a code arrived, supposedly from Vanquis, instructing me to call if I hadn’t requested it. Shortly after, an English man phoned, claiming fraudulent card activity and insisting I check my messages. He became increasingly pushy, even after I told him I wasn’t the person he was looking for!
