Santander scam calls – how to stay safe!
Summary — +448082802568
Expert Opinion
Ever wondered why that familiar Santander‑sounding number keeps ringing? Most reports point to a scam operation masquerading as the bank’s fraud team, often using urgent language and asking for PINs or security codes. The safest route is to hang up, never disclose personal details, and contact Santander directly using the number on the back of your card or their official website. Consider flagging the caller in your phone’s spam settings and, if you’ve received suspicious texts, report them to Action Fraud. Regularly reviewing your account activity and enabling two‑factor authentication adds another layer of protection against these deceptive calls.

Receiving scam calls
Combination of bad and caution
Turns out it was a legitimate call from Santander; I verified the number against the one printed on my card.
Be aware of this one caution
They have messaged me persistently several times today; call your bank and verify, never click links from this number.
It turned out to be Santander – after being scammed by a US firm, I confirmed this call was legitimate.
User review: good experiance
Surprisingly, the call was authentic – Santander asked whether I’d attempted a transaction that was declined as suspicious. An hour earlier I’d received a text from a different number.
Bad and cauton, be awar
Santander had no knowledge of issues on my account apparently
Definitely a scam… my son lost £300 to so‑called Sony hackers, and after a face‑to‑face visit this morning Santander confirmed the number isn’t theirs. Anyone claiming it’s genuine is inviting theft. If you’re unsure, visit your branch or call the number printed on official bank paperwork.
In my case it was genuine: I pre‑ordered a game, Microsoft was charging me, and I got a text from Santander asking to reply "Y" or call 08082802568. Not sure why many label it a scam.
Alert issued by user
Got eight calls last night and another eight this morning from 08082802568, but I didn’t answer any.
Experience was negative
Fraudsters posing as Santander tried to collect a payment, both texting and calling. I blocked and reported them.
I wouldn't trust this number at all.
Not affiliated with Santander
Frequent calls received daily
The call from Santander turned out to be legitimate; they warned of suspicious activity on my account. I rang back to verify, and the operator recited recent purchases, asking whether I’d authorised them. They even knew the dates, merchants – B&Q, supermarkets, the Post Office and my local newsagent – and the amounts involved.
Apparently Santander flagged something outside normal hours, with two calls arriving within five minutes from separate numbers – one to my mobile and another to my home.
