Be cautios of scammers who claim to be from Telstra. They might provide you with a case number or empolyee details, but these can be fake. Some Telstra empolyees overseas sell customer info to scammers. It's hard to verfy what's real and what's not. I think the 1800 number on this site might be spoofed by scammers to steal customer info.
I got a call from this number claiming to be Telstra high-level suport. Left a voicemail and said it was about my NBN service. When I rang back, it said the number wasn't connected. Very wierd. Had to call Telstra directley to sort it out.

Scammer alert! Claimed to be from the NBN and asked about my modem lites. Wanted to take controle of it for "improvements". Yeah rite. Asked for a company email and they gave me a fake adress in Melbourne. Blocked the number.
Don't trust these scammers! They claim to be from the NBN but it's all a lie. They'll try to keep you on the phone forever. Ask them for your NBN account number and they'll dodge the question. Report them to the police like I did.
Ever wondered what would happend if a scammer with a thick accent rang somone with an equally thick accent? Would they fall for the scam or not? I think the scammer would try to build a raport with the person and suck them in.
