Scammers posing as bank representatives are trying to deceive you. The glowing reviews are likely fake, intended to lure victims. They’ll claim to be from your bank or credit‑card issuer, sometimes even using your name or card number, and say there’s suspicious activity. Then they “prove” it by sending a text with a one‑time PIN for a large online purchase—if you read it aloud, they’ll instantly use it to charge your card. I’ve also received muffled voicemails that only mention the bank. When I called my bank using the number on the back of my card, they confirmed no contact attempts. The scammers hope you’ll listen to the voicemail and call back, letting them scam you. If you ever get a call claiming to be from your bank, tell them you’ll call back using the official number on your card and never share any PIN or read a text aloud.

The following day the bank reinstated all unauthorized overseas charges after the complaint process, but I didn’t dial the suggested number and lacked time to contact the bank.
After discovering my card was compromised, I filed a dispute with the bank, but the situation seemed highly suspicious—possible number rerouting to appear legitimate. The accompanying text was incoherent, and references to the Philippines suggest a rerouting scam. I’ll reach out to the appropriate bank department.

Tried responding to a text asking me to call a number, but the call routed to the Philippines, not Sydney. I don’t think I have any pending disputes, just FYI.
Received a message from CitiphoneAu about a disputed transaction I never had. When I called Citibank, it turned out this wasn’t their number. Watch out before you answer anything like this, man.
Roxy claimed to be from Citibank, calling about my Qantas Mastercard, which Qantas had already cancelled and was investigating unauthorised charges. I was doubtful about the call's authenticity; she requested my credit card number and asked several yes/no questions, all of which I answered 'no'.
Followed suit—I'll head to my bank tomorrow to see if they have any agreements with those people.
