I’m pretty sure it isn’t A**** answering – I saw it on this forum, so it’s probably a scam.

UK numbers: context and signals
Unsure about a UK caller? Find fresh community reports to judge unknown calls or texts. In London, Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh or Glasgow you’ll see legitimate callbacks (banks, clinics, deliveries) alongside waves of automated or misleading contacts. Area codes like 020, 0161, 0121, 0131 are not reliable for location due to portability/VoIP — use them as context, not proof.
What to do: if unsure, return calls via the official number on the company site/app, check in‑app notices, and don’t share one‑time codes. Use device filters/blocks and, if available, carrier tools (EE, O2, Vodafone, Three). Share a short factual note here so others can decide faster.
A refined‑tasting voice introduced himself as Henry from Sky, but I hung up quickly, sensing a scam.
When nobody responded, I ended the call; it appears to be a scam.
A call came at five in the morning.
The number is abhorrent; I intend to report the vile abuse.
The moment I picked up, the line was cut. The caller keeps ringing me repeatedly.
There was no message left.
Silence – no message recorded.
They are attempting to market Sky Protect.
A brief ring rang out then dropped before I could answer. It happened a few times, so I blocked the number.
Clearly a scam. 1. They hang up as soon as you answer. 2. The +44 prefix shows the call is originating from outside the UK. Such call centres ought to be banned.
Someone rang today asking for my name, address, postcode and then immediately for a password – I instantly thought it was a scam, as Sky would never request a password. They tried to push Domestic and General insurance with four months free, which I declined.
A silent call arrived with no voicemail; it appears to be a scam.
A STARLING card payment to Ignite LTD is held due to unusual activity – they’re asking me to call.
There was no answer when I picked up this number.
After I answered, the line stayed silent; I never initiate a conversation because scammers usually wait for a verbal cue before either triggering an automated script or a fraudster speaking, so the lack of response caused them to drop the call, and I blocked the number.
When I answered, the line remained silent.
Since there was no answer, I ended the call.
I missed their call, rang back after three minutes, and the line was already disconnected.
They phoned claiming to be O2 with a heavy Indian accent and background noise, introduced themselves as Roy – clearly a scam, cheers.
