Odd call that didn't match any usual reason; probably a misdial.

Understand US caller patterns
Unfamiliar US number? Here you can review fresh, concise reports from the community and decide how to handle the next call or text. In metropolitan areas like New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami or San Francisco, you’ll often see mixed patterns: legitimate callbacks (banks, deliveries, appointments) alongside unwanted robocalls or phishing. Area codes such as 212, 310, 305, 415 and 646 no longer guarantee location due to number portability and VoIP — treat them as context, not proof.
Best practice: call back via the official number listed on the company website/app, check in‑app notices, and never share one‑time codes by phone. If you notice recurring issues, use your device and carrier tools (e.g., Verizon, AT&T, T‑Mobile) to block or filter, and add a short factual note here so others benefit from your experience.
Scam call trying to get me to install software. I ignored it.
Questioning the caller's identity
A dude keeps ringing my cell and never leaves a voicemail. I tried calling 1‑612‑808‑0474, got greeted with a recorded line saying “Your call is very important to us” plus some piano music, then a robotic “Good‑bye” before the line dropped – weird, man.
Within an hour I received three calls; the first two had no voicemail, and the third introduced the caller as EBS conducting a survey. After I requested removal from their list, they disconnected.

Unexpectedly received a Marco Die surprise call – caught me off guard.
Apparently they tried to charge me $220 for a missed court date on August 1st. I told them I’d believe it only after seeing the original notice and an official penalty notice—total nonsense, just saying.
Numerous calls have been received from 817-592-3435, featuring an interactive AI robot that delivers the following script: "This is Jonathan with Home Security Center. How are you? We're in your area giving away 20 GE Home Security systems absolutely free. And we're also updating all the outdated land line systems to wireless systems, again, absolutely free. Thieves are cutting phone lines outside of the home which disables your old outdated system. One in 15 homes is being broken into every day right now. So are you the current homeowner?"
Ugh, I keep getting calls from the McRae‑Helena‑Millen area in GA; they always use a VOIP number and a cloaked P2P when I check it. For years they've been pestering me with junk offers, trying to scam me for info. I block one number, they pop up with a new one and start over—I'm seriously fed up with these scammers.

FAQ — United States
How do I verify who called?
Don’t return calls via the same unknown number. Instead, call the official number from the company’s site/app and check for in‑app alerts or emails.
Do area codes prove location?
No. Number portability and VoIP mean area codes (e.g., 212, 310, 305, 415, 646) are not reliable evidence of where a caller is.
What patterns are common?
Delivery confirmations, bank callbacks and 2FA codes, plus waves of robocalls, investment schemes, tech‑support impersonation and prize scams.
What should I share in a report?
Keep it short and practical: caller type, purpose, date, and any cues that helped you decide to answer, ignore or block.
