En junio de 2014, Pedro Manrique me envió un SMS identificándose como la Aduana Marítima de Vargas, informando que tenía mercancía en remate del Seniat y proporcionando los números 02128145433 y 02128145370. Posteriormente, me envió una lista de productos (laptops, HP, Sony Vaio, Dell, iPad, MacBook Pro, entre otros) a precios de 5 mil cada uno, alegando que incluían factura. Al llamar, su asistente me indicó que debía pagar envío y aranceles desde Maracaibo y, al llegar la mercancía, emitir un cheque a nombre del Banco del Tesoro para liberarla, con una compra mínima de diez artículos. Tras investigar en internet descubrí que se trataba de una estafa, por lo que advierto que se está engañando a la gente con frecuencia.

Our mother, who suffers mild cognitive impairment, was contacted by these callers. The gentleman said they could see from her account that she had a loan with Natwest and she had been awarded a PPI payment of £2,000.50. However, she needed to buy a PayPoint cash voucher for £100 as proof before their solicitor could deliver the money the next day. They told her which newsagent to buy this from and she went and did so. They then called her back for the voucher number which she gave them. When I returned from work I explained to her that this was probably a scam and tried to cancel the voucher. Unfortunately they had cashed it immediately. I spoke to the fraud office who took all the details, however they said they would call again and attempt to get more money. I told my mother to have them call me immediately if they did. Sure enough at 09:00 this morning they called her and then they called me. They said she needed to pay tax on her PPI payment upfront and would need to get a further £300 in vouchers before the solicitor could deliver the money. I confronted the Asian male caller about this being a scam and he assured me it was not, but moments later the phone went dead. The number was 00501 and he said he was from Claims Direct. Please beware!

Fui víctima ayer de una estafa en Guanta, la aduana supuestamente vendía línea blanca a precios económicos y, como tonta, deposité 12 millones. La policía no hace nada; esos estafadores son una vergüenza. Perdí 12 mil Bs y siento que el país nunca cambiará mientras el presidente no actúe.
