Scam callers demanding money – protect yourself!

Someone with a accent claimed to be calling from Microsoft, but hang up imediatly

A call was received with no caller ID, and a woman with an Indian accent claimed to be helping with Windows issues, but since I have a Mac, I hung up; half an hour later, the same number called again, but there was no one on the other end, likely from the same location.

A woman claiming to be a compliance officer called me on Tuesday, stating she would arrive at my home within an hour, which immediately raised suspicions, given my past experiences with small claims court, where process servers never provided prior notice, and the term 'compliance officer' was unfamiliar to me, prompting me to prepare evidence, including photos, had she actually shown up, to potentially involve the authorities.

The number 000-000-0001 is purportedly used by Electronic Support Services to offer a refund from Microsoft Computer, but it's actually a scam involving TeamViewer and malware, with the promise of a $185 refund, followed by a request to download banking information

It's worth noting that arrest warrants cannot be served via email or fax, as they require in-person delivery by law enforcement or certified mail. Any claims otherwise are likely to be scams.

A scammer, posing as Officer David Brown from California, sent a fake arrest warrant with a Florida attorney general stamp, which is a common tactic used to intimidate people into making payments.
