Google‑verificatiecode: legitiem of oplichter?

This appears to be a scam, as I received a call from this number with a recording that mentioned a code, leaving me confused about its purpose.

A text from 804‑384‑0468 asked me to verify the kind of work I do and whether I take credit cards, yeah. I replied asking for a call to discuss the job and the address. Five days later he said he’d call but mentioned he’s in the military, so timing’s tricky. I requested the address; he gave one that showed up for sale on several sites. When I asked if he lived there or had a tenant or an agent, he dodged the question and just wanted to set a call time. He claimed he had no local contact but trusted I’d do the work well. He then sent a two‑digit code and said to enter it, but a completely different number (202‑455‑8888) called asking for that code. I ignored it and texted back asking who was texting me – no reply. He kept insisting I enter the code because he’s military, and I mentioned I’m ex‑military too, but never needed a code. Nothing else from him. Later I saw the 202 number linked to “The Cathedral Of Love,” which looks shady and doesn’t match the real cathedral’s site.

No respondí y envié un mensaje al número preguntando quién me estaba escribiendo. No hubo respuesta. En su número (804), me escribió diciendo que ingresara el código para poder hablar. Pregunté para qué era el código. Dijo que era porque era militar. Respondí que yo también soy exmilitar, al igual que amigos y familiares, y nunca necesité un código. No he recibido nada más de él desde entonces. Hoy, un símbolo (uso Facebook Messenger) junto al número 202 mostró que era The Cathedral Of Love. Verifiqué en Internet. El sitio web parece falso y es diferente del sitio web de Cathedral of Love.

However, the exchange became suspicious when they claimed to be a military personnel and requested a two-digit authorization code, which was allegedly required due to their military status. A computerized call from a different number, 202-455-8888, further heightened my skepticism, and I chose not to engage with the caller any further.
