Is That $8,500 Offer a Government Scam?

Expert Opinion
Calls claiming to be from the federal government and offering thousands of dollars for a small fee are classic scams. The offers sound too good to be true, and the request for a Western Union payment or personal banking details is a red flag. Never send money or share financial info to unknown callers, especially when they pressure you with deadlines or threats of arrest. Hang up, block the number, and report the call to the FTC or your local consumer protection agency. If you’re ever unsure, verify the caller’s identity through official government channels before taking any action.
