However, upon clarification with Unifi or TM, it was revealed that this claim was untrue. It seems that certain telcos employ tactics to target customers who have ended their 2-year contracts with TM or Unifi. Notably, switching to another telco like Maxis would still require paying a monthly fee of around RM 25 to retain the household number. Hopefully, this information is helpful.
I intend to file a complaint with MCMC regarding this incident, where the caller claimed to represent Maxis and spoke about a switching program from TM to Maxis, before abruptly hanging up.
