Nelnet tech‑support scam calls – how to stop them

This number cald me about once a month, claming i have a serius virus on my computor but they want to help me, eventhough they just hang up, its a good reminder to backup my data

A suspicious call was made to me at 2 pm today, and upon checking my phone records, I noticed this number had been trying to reach me since yesterday when I wasn't home. The caller, who had a foreign accent, requested that I access my computer to perform a Windows update. I informed him that I would have my IT specialist friend look into it, and he promptly ended the call.

This is a scam attempting to direct victims to a malware-loaded URL.

A man with an Indian accent claimed to be from Microsoft Windows, stating my computer had a dangerous virus and insisted on accessing my PC, which seems like a scam.

Upon receiving a call this evening from an individual claiming to represent Nelnet, I was informed that my computer was allegedly sending error messages. The caller, who spoke with a thick accent, became agitated and yelled at me in a foreign language after I questioned the legitimacy of the call. Following the incident, I contacted the actual Nelnet company and reported the scam. According to them, this number is not affiliated with their operations and appears to be a fraudulent attempt. Notably, the phone number 402-875-9195 is restricted for outgoing calls only.
