Hang up, block the number, and report the incident to the FTC and your state’s consumer protection office. If you suspect a legitimate debt, request a written validation from the original creditor before taking any action.
After multiple calls, the person finally left a message about consolidating and potentially forgiving student loans, but when I tried to call back, the number was disconnected, indicating a scam.
