They called me 3 times today, first time they woke me up.
Why is this number flooding Quebec homes with fake store invites?
Summary — +14388092414
Expert Opinion
Ever wonder why your phone rings nonstop with silent drops and vague store invitations? The pattern points to a persistent robocall telemarketing operation targeting Quebec residents with fabricated new‑store openings and "free gift" offers. Callers often know your name and prior address, suggesting they’ve harvested data from outdated directories. The calls typically end in a brief music loop or hang‑up, a classic pressure‑tactic to elicit a callback. To curb the nuisance, enable carrier‑provided call‑blocking features, register the number with the National Do‑Not‑Call List, and file complaints with the CRTC. Consider a third‑party block‑list device for landlines, and never disclose personal details during unsolicited calls.

Kevin - Same sceanario. Asked if I'd recieved some postal invitation for a new leather store in Coaticook. They knew my postal adress and asked for my first name, which I gave them. Then they asked for my spouses first name and I got suspisious and didnt give it to them. They asked what day I wanted to go pick up my 'gift', I said maybe Saturday and they got pushy. Do you own a car, etc.
Amanda - After getting tons of calls like this, we got these call block devices and now we just have to press a button without even talking to them. They cant reach us anymore. Same with this 438-809-2414 number, it was about discounts for a new furniture store. They knew our adress but as soon as they asked for my husbands name, I hung up.
Liam - Just recieved a call from 438-809-2414, the lady knew my name. I asked her what she wanted and she said it was for a leather sale. I asked her where she got my confidential number from, she said it was through geolocation.
Same scenario. Asked if we got a mail advert. New leather store in Coaticook. Questions seemed to be leading to yes anwsers. Didn't ask for bank info, just name and adress and my wife's first name. Then asked what day I wanted to pick up my gift. Said Saturday, maybe, and they got pushy. Do you have a car, etc.
Same deal. Asked if I got a mail invite for a new leather store in Coaticook. Knew my adress, asked for my first name, and then asked for my partners name. I was like, whats going on? They didnt ask for any banking info, just name and adress (wich is easy to find anyway), and then asked when I wanted to go pick up my 'gift'. I said maybe Saturday, and they got pushy. Do you have a car, etc.
Same story. Asked if I got a mail invite for a new leather store in Coaticook. They knew my adress and asked for my name, which I gave. Then they asked for my partners name and that's when I got suspisious. They just asked for basic info, not banking stuff, but still.
Same old story. They asked if I'd recieved an ad in the mail. New leather store in Coaticook. Their questions seemed designed to get 'yes' answers. They didnt ask for bank info, just my name and adress (which isnt hard to find, so not exacly top-secret) and my wife's first name. Then they asked what day I wanted to pick up my 'gift'. I said maybe Saterday, and they got pushy. Do you own a car, etc.
Même scénario, ils m'ont demandé si j'avais reçu une annonce par la poste pour un nouveau magasin. Mais c'était juste un piège.
