FDR debt collector calls – what to do!
Summary — +16477768784
Expert Opinion
Imagine getting a call from an unfamiliar number that claims you owe money to CIBC. The voice sounds scripted, asks for your address or birthdate, and warns that legal action will follow unless you pay immediately. This pattern matches a debt collector using a third‑party script, often linked to Financial Debt Recovery (FDR). Protect your personal data by never confirming details over the phone. Ask for a written notice, request a cease‑and‑desist letter, and log the call. Report the number to the telecom regulator and your bank’s fraud line, and block the caller on your device. Staying silent and documenting the interaction are the safest steps.

Eliot says: blocking these guys doesnt do squat - they just spoof a new number and keep on calling.

Lily's the name, and I've lost count of how many times I've seen this number on my caller ID. Finaly worked up the courage to call back, only to be told they were looking for somone else. When I asked why they kept calling me, they just got all anoying and vague.

Francis here - been dealing with these jokers for 10 years now, and I'm at my wits end. Two people I've never even herd of, and yet I'm the one getting harrased. Made a few calls to FDR, but nothing's changed.
Got a call today saying its from CIBC, but I dont have an account with them. They said it was about a 10 year old visa account with $10,000 - I never had one. Told them they were wrong and hung up - its stressfull when you cant prove anything
So in Ontario, theres this Limitation Act of 2002 thats been in efect since jan 1, 2004. It says you only have 2 yrs to make a claim. But if the debt is acknowleged or a partial payment is made, then the limitation starts over. If the debt default happend before jan 1, 2004, you got 6 yrs to make a claim. If it happend after jan 1, 2004, then you only got 2 yrs
Its actualy 6 yrs and a day
Company name is actaully Financial Debt Recovery (FDR Canada)
Apperently, this is some 3rd party collection agency. Leaves messages saying you gotta call them back about some buisness with CIBC. They probaly bought old debts from CIBC and are trying to collect. They use diff numbers but sometimes the robo dialer leaves a message, making it easy to block. Looks like they go after old stuff thats probaly past the statute of limitations. I had a gov student loan with CIBC, so they probaly have alot of those. If you ignore them, they're harmless.
Just got a call from some lady who wanted me to verify my address and birthdate. She said I owed CIBC money - yeah, rite. I'm like, 'Send me a notice in the mail,' and then I hung up. I don't owe CIBC anything, and I never have.
They've been sued befor for harassment, and if they keep calling me, I'll do the same.
It's seven years, not two - just FYI.
Actualy, it's seven years - not two.
These bottom-feeders have been bugging me for years. Sorry, guys, but you're not getting a comission from a debt that CIBC wrote off in 2008.
They just keep calling my cell phone... ugh.
I keep getting calls from this number - multiple times a day. It's super anoying. I didn't pick up, and from what I've seen online, it looks like they're not even from CIBC. I just have a RESP with them, so I'm like, 'What's the deal?'
Same call here - they said it was an old CIBC debt. Problem is, I've never done buisness with CIBC. Now they're calling me, and I'm all like, 'Uh, no.'
You know what? I think these might be ISIS scam calls to steal money from the West and finance terrorism. Just hang up, people.
