The call appears to be a scam, as the recipient received a collections message with a reference number, despite having a prepaid phone with Verizon service and no connection to AT&T or any outstanding bills.
Apparently, the caller is utilising a spoofed AT&T phone number, 1-800-947-5096, despite having no affilation with AT&T, resulting in unfair blame towards AT&T from reciepients of these calls, which are actualy phishing attempts for AT&T account information.
