After canceling my subscription to the Charlotte News and Observer due to consistent delivery issues, I have been receiving relentless calls in an attempt to retain my business
McClatchy renewal calls—what’s the deal?
Summary — +18036208005
Expert Opinion
Be wary of unexpected calls from 800‑362‑0805. These calls are typically automated attempts by newspaper publishers—most often the McClatchy renewal department—to persuade recent cancelers to reopen their subscriptions. Because the number rarely leaves a voicemail and often prompts you to press 1 to be removed, it’s a classic robocall tactic. If you’ve already canceled, hang up and do not follow any “press 1” instructions; instead contact the newspaper directly using a verified phone number or website. Add the caller to your phone’s block list, register the number on the national Do‑Not‑Call Registry, and report persistent abuse to your carrier. Staying vigilant helps keep unwanted renewal solicitations at bay.
