Scam callers posing as process servers – what to watch for!

Expert Opinion
Calls claiming to serve a summons or demand a debt that doesn’t exist are a classic red flag. Victims often hear a fake case number, a read‑off Social Security number, or a story about an old overdraft that never happened. Never share personal or financial details with an unsolicited caller, and hang up before they can pressure you. Verify any alleged court action by contacting the court clerk directly, not the number that called you. Report the number to the FTC and your phone carrier to help block future scams. Keep a log of the call details – time, script snippets, and any names used – to aid investigations.
