The caller claimed to represent Affinity Federal Credit Union, but the number is not associated with the actual credit union
Credit union scam call – how to protect your account
Summary — +18339770543
Expert Opinion
You noted the automated voice never identified the caller, leaving you unsure if it was really your credit union. The pattern matches a common scam where fraudsters mimic financial institutions and ask for personal info that can be used to hijack accounts. Always verify the number against the official contact details listed on your bank's website or statements before responding. Hang up if the call asks for passwords, PINs, or partial account numbers, and never enter data into a voice‑prompted system. Consider blocking the number, reporting it to your carrier's spam‑stop service, and monitoring your accounts for any unauthorized activity.

Apparently, Hughes Federal Credit Union supposibly contacted me, but when i rang back, the companys name wasnt provided and they claimed they couldnt identifi my phone number, requiering me to enter it, thats when i disconnected the call, my payments to them are always on time via auto-pay
The message transcript is as follows:
Despite potentially being legitimate, as I do have a credit union, the automated system's failure to identify themselves raises trust issues, especially since they request partial information for identification purposes without verifying their own authenticity.
