Apparently, these scam artists are making the rounds, claiming I owe money for debts that don't exist, and they're trying to settle the matter over the phone without providing any documentation, which raises huge red flags; I'm concerned they might try to exploit some technicality if I don't take action

This is a compleat scam, they calld me and said they are sending somone to serve me, when my son told them its a scam, they rattled off his social secuirity number
Apparently, their tactics involve contacting acquantances, colleauges and even employers to creat panic and embarassment, so the victim will eventualy call them and pay the extortion money, they ofen get incorrect informations from the internet and call people who are totaly unassociated with you.

The caller had access to both my and my husband's social security numbers, even though we weren't married at the time they must have obtained this information.

After being contacted with false claims of a court appearance, I decided to play along, pretending to be an attorney, and hilarity ensued when they got frustrated and hung up

The caller was extremely aggressive, alleging that I had defaulted on a credit card I never owned, and when I denied this, he became threatening, stating he would submit a recording of our conversation to the court.
The woman on the phone claimed to have documents for me, but her voice was threatenin and I beleive it was a scam.
Fortunately, I found this community after encountering a rude woman who became angry when I asked for the law firm's name and then hung up on me, mentioning a process server would arrive for me to sign papers, but I never discovered what it was about.
Credit report history only spans 7 years, or posible 10 years, so it's unlikely to be listed on your report.
