Bank of America scam alert – what to do!
Summary — +18445850490
Expert Opinion
Most likely, this number is being used for fraudulent Bank of America‑style scams that mimic legitimate fraud alerts. Callers often claim suspicious charges and demand an immediate response, pressing victims to reply “YES” or call a toll‑free line. While a handful of users reported genuine help after calling the number on the back of their card, the overwhelming pattern points to a scam exploiting the bank’s brand. Protect yourself by never sharing personal data over the phone, especially SSN or full account numbers. Instead, log into your online banking portal or call the official number printed on your card to verify any alerts. If you suspect fraud, report it directly to the bank and consider filing a complaint with the FTC or the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center.

An explanation of events is unclear
At 3:55 AM, I received a test message from '32262' inquiring about a transaction on my BofA Credit Card ending in 'xxxx' at SPN Home Hardware for $1.44 and a declined amount at Krispy Cream. The message included 844-585-0490, supposedly BofA's Security Number. After logging into my BofA account, I found a hold on the card and answered a series of yes/no questions to confirm the charges as fraudulent. Consequently, my card was cancelled, and a new one will be issued within 5-7 days. I appreciate BofA's prompt action and am relieved to have a secondary card from a different institution for temporary use.
