Expert Opinion
Picture this: your phone lights up with an unknown number, and a voice claims to represent Asset Recovery Solutions, demanding payment on an old debt. Never share personal or financial details before you verify the caller’s identity in writing. Under the FDCPA, a legitimate collector must send you a written notice within five days that includes their name, address, the original creditor, and the amount owed. If you receive nothing, treat the call as a potential scam and block the number. Report the incident to the FTC and your state’s consumer protection agency, and keep a log of all interactions for future reference.
