Debt collector call that felt aggressive and unprofessional. Might be worth filing a complaint.
Citibank scam call? How to protect yourself!
Summary — +18597955684
Expert Opinion
Oddly enough, the +1‑859‑795‑5684 line shows up in dozens of reports as a bogus Citibank impersonator. Callers swing between claiming a tiny overdraft, an unpaid Macy’s bill, or a debt collection demand, often using a thick Indian or Southern accent and vague “new law” references. The pattern points to a classic vishing scam: they harvest personal data by feigning legitimacy. Never share account numbers, Social Security, or birth dates unless you’ve initiated the call and can verify the representative through official bank channels. Hang up, block the number, and file the incident with the FTC or your carrier.

Receiving a scam call is always a nuisance, and this instance was no exception, as the caller attempted to deceive me by claiming to be from Citibank and stating that I had a $10 overdraft on a linked credit card, which I know to be false since I don't have any accounts with that bank. The caller also mispronounced my name, a common trait among scammers. I ended the call after threatening to contact the FCC and FBI.
The caller had my name, but wouldnt say whats it about unless i confirmed my identity, i refused and the call ended.
