Expert Opinion
Caution: these calls aren't legitimate and aim to pressure you with fake threats. The callers claim to be from an agency called NIS and use vague case numbers, alleged investigations, and threats of officers showing up if you don’t respond. Never share personal or financial details on unsolicited calls, and avoid confirming any information without first verifying the source through official channels. Hang up, block the number, and document the call. Report the incident to the FTC and your local law‑enforcement non‑emergency line. Educate family members about the tactics, and consider placing a call‑blocking app to reduce future harassment. Staying skeptical and protecting your data are the best defenses.
