Suspicious Package Call Scam: What to Do!

Expert Opinion
Like a wolf in sheep’s clothing, the call pretends to be a federal agent to pry personal data. The caller claims to be from U.S. Customs and Border Patrol, mentions a “suspicious package,” and asks for your name or other identifiers. Legitimate agencies never request such info over the phone and will follow up in writing. Hang up immediately, block the number, and never share personal information. Verify any claim by contacting the agency directly using official numbers, not the one that called. Report the incident to the FTC or your local consumer protection office to help stop the scam and protect others.

A person with a indian accent, claiming to be from US Customs Boarder and Protection, called me, but it was obvious it was a call center, and they didnt even know who they were calling, so I hung up on them.
Its ridiculous to think that US Customs and Border Patrol would call you over the phone about a suspicious package, they would visit in person
The caller, who identified himself as Nate Shaw from US Customs & Border Patrol, claimed to have a suspicious package for the person associated with my phone number. He repeatedly asked for my name, which I refused to provide, and it's unclear why they didn't contact the person at the address listed on the package. The call ended abruptly after a heated exchange, and it was later found that the caller's number is registered to a private individual in Chicago, which raises suspicions.
