It seems unusual for a bank to send texts from a number previously owned by someone else.
Synchrony Bank credit alert: what to do?
Summary — +18773754982
Expert Opinion
Block the number immediately if you suspect fraud. Most texts from 877‑375‑4982 are automated alerts from Synchrony Bank, the processor behind many retail credit cards. When you receive a message about a card you didn’t apply for, don’t click any links and don’t give personal data over the phone. Instead, locate the official customer‑service number on the bank’s website or your statement, then call to verify the reference number. Keep a record of the text, the reference code, and the time it arrived. If the call turns out to be a scam, report it to the FTC and your credit bureaus.
