Expert Opinion
Imagine receiving a text that claims Mr. Cooper is a debt collector and your tax documents are ready, even though you’ve closed your loan. The message often includes a link and urges immediate action, which is a classic phishing cue. Since the number has been reported multiple times, treat any unsolicited request for personal or financial info as suspicious. Verify the claim by contacting Mr. Cooper through an official channel—do not click the link. Protect your personal data by monitoring accounts for unusual activity and consider a credit freeze if you suspect identity theft. Regularly review any breach notifications and follow the company’s verified steps for protection.
