Scam callers pretending to be Citibank – red flags!
Summary — +18882484226
Expert Opinion
Late last night, several users reported receiving calls that displayed a Citibank name but turned out to be fraudulent. The callers often ask for personal details such as SSN, account numbers, or one‑time passwords, and may threaten account closures if you don’t comply. Because caller ID can be spoofed, never trust the displayed name alone. Hang up, verify the request by calling the official number on the back of your card or logging into your account online. Never share sensitive information over an unsolicited call, and consider adding the number to your phone’s block list. Report the incident to your bank’s fraud department and to the FTC to help stop the scheme.

A suspicious call was received at 11:55 pm with no voicemail, which seems shady given the late hour and previous comments; as a Citibank customer, I'm aware they don't ask for full social security numbers or make late-night calls, even in cases of suspected fraud, so I advise caution and not answering such calls, and utilizing the 'do not call' block available for cell phones.

Even if the number appears to belong to Citibank, it's crucial not to disclose any information or return calls from unknown numbers. Instead, contact your bank directly if concerns arise, as phone numbers can be spoofed and phishing scams are increasingly sophisticated
Beware, as this call requests sensitive information, including SSN and debt card number, indicative of a scam.
