Upon receiving a message about an electric invoice, including a reference number, I contacted the number and spoke with a representative named Brandon. He claimed to be following up on an invoice but asked inappropriate questions, became rude when I explained I was no longer in NY, and admitted the call was an error after I provided context.

Expert Opinion
These calls are most likely scam attempts, targeting personal data and money. Callers swap between fake utility invoices, bogus home‑security offers, and phantom diabetic‑supply deliveries to pressure recipients. They often use generic IDs like “No Name” or mispronounce the number as “YOUR SECURITY” to create urgency. The safest move is to let unknown numbers go to voicemail, avoid returning the call, and never share account numbers or health details. Register the line with the national Do‑Not‑Call list, use carrier blocking tools, and report persistent offenders to the FTC. Block the number and report any suspicious content promptly.

Despite having a new cell phone number that few people know, I received a call from this number, which left no message, and the caller ID displayed 'No Name'.
The frequency of these calls from what appears to be a call center is disturbing and utterly useless. The best course of action seems to be ignoring them when they ring.
The call was answered, but there was no response
