Expertenmeinung

Despite being located in Canada, we received a call from this number, highlighting the widespread nature of these calls.
Calls were received claiming there were internal errors from the eastlink server and previously from Microsoft, both of which were deemed false alarms.
After recieving a call from someone claiming to be from Microsoft, warning me about a virus on my windows 7 operating system, I informed them about the police trace on my phone and the possiblity of it being a call center using VoIP, and advised them that I wouldn't provide any personal info, as it's a clear case of social engineering, and suggested that others ask the callers to answer certain questions to verify thier authenticity, such as the computer name, MAC adress, and Bill Gates' personal phone number, without posting the answers online.
