Is Synchrony Financial a Scam? Find Out!
Summary — +19802332000
Expert Opinion
Like a wolf in sheep’s clothing, the calls from +19802332000 masquerade as legitimate Synchrony Financial outreach, pressing victims to hand over Social Security numbers, birth dates, or account codes. The pattern—generic voicemail about a nonexistent Walmart, Amazon, or PayPal application, followed by a high‑pressure callback request—matches classic vishing tactics. Callers often spoof familiar brand IDs and use toll‑free numbers that look official. Never provide personal data on unsolicited calls, and verify any claim by contacting the institution directly using a known phone number or online portal. Report the number to your carrier and place it on a blocklist to curb future attempts.

A caller claiming to be from Synchrony Bank inquired about a check I had submitted and requested my birthdate for verification. The request seemed unusual, especially since it was made immediately. I informed them that I had already spoken to someone else and received the necessary paperwork. The caller persisted in asking for my birthdate, so I ended the call and they did not attempt to contact me again. What is alarming is how they were aware of my bank transaction.

During the call, the individual claimed that an application for an Amazon credit card had been submitted, but my credit bureau accounts were frozen, and they requested my address and the last four digits of my SSN, which, given my existing Synchrony bank cards, I initially believed, but after researching the phone number, I discovered it was a scam and promptly contacted my credit bureau to place an alert on my SSN.
