Medicare Advocate scams: How to stop the spam

Expert Opinion
Turns out these calls are classic telemarketing scams targeting Medicare‑related concerns. From a data‑protection perspective, the callers aim to harvest personal data by posing as legitimate health‑insurance agents. Never disclose Social Security numbers, bank details, or medical information to an unsolicited caller, even if a name like “Medicare Advocate” appears on your caller ID. Register your number with the national Do‑Not‑Call list, but also use a reputable call blocker that flags spoofed numbers. Report persistent offenders to the FTC and your phone carrier. Stay skeptical, keep records of call times, and educate friends and family about the tactics used in these scams.
