Most of these rings are generated by security‑screen services such as Qwest, which replace the real number with a placeholder and often funnel the call to debt‑collection outfits like Convergent Outsourcing. The pattern is repetitive, silent, or ends with a scripted voice, fitting the hallmarks of harassment scams. To protect yourself, register the number on your carrier’s block list, disable any security screen feature, and never share personal details. If a live agent asks for your SSN, hang up and report the incident to your provider.
